Position Summary: The Sheet Metal Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading, supervising, and developing a team of sheet metal technicians and CNC operators while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role blends hands-on technical expertise in sheet metal fabrication, CNC/wire operations, and equipment setup with strong people leadership, scheduling, and continuous improvement accountability.

The Supervisor ensures daily production goals are met through effective resource allocation, workflow organization, safety enforcement, and quality oversight. This position partners closely with Operations, Production Engineering, and Support Functions to drive improvements in efficiency, cost, delivery, and product quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision

· Supervise, coach, and motivate team members to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets.

· Lead by example, setting expectations for professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.

· Develop team competencies through training, cross-training, and skill development in sheet metal fabrication and CNC operations.

· Create, maintain, and monitor daily and weekly work schedules with clearly defined priorities.

· Anticipate labor, material, and equipment needs and allocate resources to meet shift and department goals.

· Work with Human Resources on hiring decisions, employee development, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.

· Maintain accurate time, attendance, and performance records.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

· Enforce strict safety guidelines, OSHA requirements, and company policies consistently and directly.

· Ensure employees are trained on the safe operation of machinery, tooling, and material handling.

· Monitor work areas to ensure safe, clean, and organized conditions.

· Ensure products conform to engineering drawings and specifications using inspection tools such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers.

· Transparently identify and escalate quality, safety, or performance issues as needed.

Technical & Operational Oversight

· Oversee setup, calibration, testing, and operation of sheet metal fabrication equipment, including CNC, wire bending, turret press, laser, and bending operations.

· Ensure correct tooling selection, machine parameters, and sequence of operations based on work orders and drawings.

· Support and validate CNC programming, tooling paths, and adjustments to improve performance and accuracy.

· Monitor machine performance and address malfunctions, out-of-tolerance conditions, and bottlenecks.

· Provide technical guidance and hands-on support as needed to meet production demands.

· Ensure routine maintenance tasks are performed to keep equipment operating effectively.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

· Identify inefficiencies, constraints, and bottlenecks, and lead corrective actions.

· Partner with Production Engineering to improve processes, layouts, and workflows for increased efficiency, safety, and product quality.

· Promote LEAN manufacturing principles and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives within the department.

· Challenge the status quo constructively and encourage innovative problem-solving.

· Coordinate with support groups to ensure operational readiness, material flow, and capacity alignment.

Reporting & Systems

· Provide accurate reporting related to safety, production, efficiency, quality, and issues.

· Effectively utilize ERP systems, drawing/model viewers, MS Office, and machine control software.

· Perform any other tasks assigned by management.

Position Qualifications:

· Proven ability to lead by example and motivate teams in a manufacturing environment.

· Strong interpersonal, coaching, and team-building skills.

· Results-driven with strong ownership and accountability.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to translate requirements into executable schedules.

· Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, specifications, and production data.

· Demonstrated technical expertise in sheet metal fabrication and CNC operations.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Self-driven, adaptable, and effective in a fast-paced, changing environment.

· Strong collaboration skills across departments and functions.

· Ability to lift 30–50 lbs. and work on the production floor as needed.

· Reliable transportation required.

Education:

· High school diploma or GED

· Previous CNC programming experience

Requirements:

· Solid computer skills in Microsoft Office and drawing/model viewer (eDrawing).

· completion of pre-employment background and drug screen

· Work overtime as required.

· Minimum of 2 years of production/manufacturing experience (sheet metal or CNC preferred).

· Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing.

· Prior hands-on experience with CNC programming, machine setup, and sheet metal operations strongly preferred.

Beneficial Skills:

· Bilingual

· Basic understanding of 3-D planes

· Bilingual (preferred).

· Strong manufacturing operations knowledge.

· LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.

· Familiarity with OSHA regulations and compliance.

· Experience with metal bending, wire forming, turret press, laser cutting, and CNC wire operations.

· Ability to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement and make actionable recommendations.
