Electroencephalography (EEG) Technologist

Position Summary

NYC Health + Hospitals - Bellevue Hospital Center is seeking an experienced EEG Technologist to join the Neurology Department. The EEG Technologist will be responsible for performing electroencephalography studies, preparing patients for procedures, applying electrodes, monitoring EEG recordings, and maintaining accurate patient records.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a hospital setting, strong patient care skills, and the ability to perform diagnostic testing accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for EEG examinations and explain procedures.
• Apply EEG electrodes according to established protocols.
• Operate and maintain EEG equipment.
• Monitor and record brain wave activity.
• Identify and label EEG tracings accurately.
• Document patient information and maintain medical records.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues as necessary.
• Follow infection control and safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with physicians, neurologists, and healthcare staff.
• Maintain accurate testing records and reports.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum one (1) year of EEG Technologist experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.

OR

• Completion of an ABRET-recognized EEG training program.

OR

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited EEG program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications
