Conveniently located in northern Sacramento, Heritage Oaks is a fully accredited, 125-bed acute psychiatric hospital offering a full range of individually tailored treatment services to adolescents, adults, and senior adults, including treatment for substance abuse and chemical dependency issues with drugs and alcohol. The Mental Health Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) is a licensed professional who provides basic psychiatric nursing care, behavioral support, and milieu safety interventions under the clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The LVN/LPT contributes to patient care by collecting data, implementing therapeutic interventions, administering medications within scope, supporting crisis management, and maintaining a safe, structured, recoveryoriented environment for patients experiencing acute or chronic psychiatric conditions.

• Collect and document objective data, including vital signs, observed behaviors, patient statements, and physical findings.
• Report changes in patient condition promptly to the RN.
• Participate in admission processes by completing LVN/LPTappropriate sections of intake documentation.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited LVN or LPT program.

Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year psychiatric or behavioral health experience preferred
• Demonstrated competency in therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and milieu management

Licensure & Certifications:

• Current California LVN or LPT license
• Current CPR certification
• Completion of Handle with Care (HWC) training within 30 days of hire
• Successful completion of medication administration and developmental competency exams

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to adapt to changing patient needs and acuity
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
