About the Role:

The Group Exercise Instructor (Non-Certified) plays a vital role in leading engaging and effective group fitness classes that promote health, wellness, and community among participants. This position focuses on delivering dynamic exercise sessions tailored to a variety of fitness levels, ensuring safety and motivation throughout each class. The instructor will foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participants to achieve their personal fitness goals while enjoying the social aspects of group exercise. Collaboration with other fitness staff and management is essential to maintain high standards of class quality and participant satisfaction. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall success of the fitness program by enhancing member experience and supporting a healthy lifestyle within the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience leading group exercise classes or similar fitness instruction.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse groups.
• Ability to demonstrate exercises clearly and maintain participant safety.
• Basic knowledge of exercise techniques and fitness principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in group fitness instruction from a recognized organization (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM).
• CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Experience working with a variety of age groups and fitness levels.
• Knowledge of music selection and choreography to enhance class experience.
• Background in specialized fitness areas such as yoga, Pilates, or strength training.

Responsibilities:

• Lead group exercise classes with enthusiasm, ensuring clear instruction and demonstration of exercises.
• Adapt workouts to accommodate different fitness levels and any physical limitations of participants.
• Maintain a safe environment by monitoring participant form and providing modifications as needed.
• Engage and motivate class members to foster a supportive and energetic atmosphere.
• Collaborate with fitness staff to develop class schedules and contribute ideas for new class formats.
• Ensure all equipment is used properly and report any maintenance needs to management.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing participant questions and feedback promptly.

The Group Exercise Instructor utilizes strong communication skills daily to clearly convey exercise instructions and motivate participants, ensuring an engaging class environment. Leadership and interpersonal skills are essential for managing group dynamics and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all fitness levels. The instructor applies knowledge of exercise techniques to demonstrate movements safely and provide appropriate modifications, minimizing injury risk.
