Salary packaging | Additional leave | Career Development About The Role As a Medical Laboratory Technician within Specimen Reception, you will play an important role in ensuring specimens are received, processed and directed to the appropriate diagnostic laboratory safely and efficiently. Specimen Reception is responsible for the timely and accurate receipt of specimens across the Division of Laboratory Services, as well as tracking and dispatching specimens for specialised testing to referral laboratories across Australia and overseas. This is an opportunity to contribute Public Pathology Victoria (PPV) as it continues to build a connected statewide pathology service supporting clinical excellence, innovation, research, education and service improvement. Key Accountabilities Laboratory - Perform Specimen Reception, specimen processing, routine testing, equipment operation, QC and general laboratory duties Clerical - Accurately complete LIS data entry and registration, manage enquiries and calls, and maintain departmental filing and administrative systems. Training and Development - Participate in training and continuing education, contribute to process improvement, and maintain required compliance and certification. Communication - Maintain a safe, confidential and professional work environment through effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. About You You are a qualified laboratory professional who brings: Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Laboratory Operations, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent Strong accuracy, attention to detail and data entry skills Good organisation, time management and ability to prioritise competing tasksAbility to follow procedures and quality standards and adapt to changing priorities Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently A systematic approach, initiative and commitment to quality Flexibility to work across multiple sites, including after-hours, weekends and public holidays Diagnostic laboratory and specimen processing experience is desirable Benefits Of Working At RMH Meaningful Work Make a real difference in the lives of patients, families and our community.
