The lead instructor is responsible for the planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of AHA courses through the Center for Learning and Development at Albany Medical Center. The Lead AHA Training Center Instructor ensures adherence with the standards set out and put forth in the American Heart Association Program Administration Manual (PAM) by all instructors and affiliated training sites. The lead instructor may also, at the request of the AVP for Professional Practice, participate in other education events specific to resuscitation science and provide consultation to the development of education programs.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities*** **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** + The AHA Training Center Lead Instructor will adhere to AMC Code of Conduct, including honesty, punctuality, confidentiality and high ethical standards. The AHA Training Lead Instructor will ensure meticulous adherence by all affiliated instructors and training sites with the rules, regulations and standards set forth in the American Heart Association Program Administration Manual (PAM). + Maintains Paramedic, BLS, ACLS and PALS certification at all times + Maintains AHA Training Center documentation and standards. + Works collaboratively with AVP Professional Practice and AHA Training Center Coordinator to support the needs of the AHA Training Center. + Works collaboratively with all staff in the Albany Medical Center for Learning to support daily operations of the AHA Training Center + Works to ensure adequate number of instructors and availability of classes to support the education and credentialing needs of Albany Medical Center and affiliated practices. + Plans and Communicates annual AHA Class Calendar based on needs of AMC and affiliated practices. + Monitors and orders AHA Training Center inventory + Maintains AHA Equipment in conjunction with AHA Training Center Coordinator + Oversight of quarterly meetings with AHA Instructor community + Evaluates and Certifies instructors based on AHA standards + Runs Instructor certification and continuing education classes. + Monitors and supports instructor group for quality, conduct and certification.* **MANAGEMENT OF EQUIPMENT** + Maintains durable equipment according to manufacturer’s guidelines to support operational readiness to teach AHA courses. + Anticipates and Informs AVP of Professional Practice of budgetary needs in a timely fashion. + Assists in the cleaning and preparation of rooms and equipment before and after classes to ensure readiness for use.* **QUALITY IMPROVEMENT** + Supports a system that encourages the identification and analysis of errors and near misses in the context of a safety culture. + Is aware of and compliant with all hospital and regulatory agency safety goals and objectives as well as limitations of scope of practice. + Provide direction and act as a mentor in assisting students and orientees to succeed. + Be accountable for self-development and keep current on clinical, leadership, education and healthcare topics. + Ensures that all AHA Instructor Updates are communicated to AMC AHA instructors in a timely fashion.**Qualifications*** Associate's Degree in a health discipline - required* Bachelor's Degree in a health discipline - preferred* 5 years of current/recent experience as a paramedic - required* Teaching experience related to resuscitation science - required* Teaching experience at a college level - preferred* Ability to be honest, punctual, maintain confidentiality and high ethical standards.* LP - Licensed Paramedic Current certification/license in NY Upon Hire - required* ACLS INSTRC - ACLS Instructor Upon Hire - required* PALS INSTRC - PALS Instructor Upon Hire - required* BCLS - Basic Life Support Instructor Certification Upon Hire - requiredEquivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. **Physical Demands*** Standing - Occasionally* Walking - Occasionally* Sitting - Constantly* Lifting - Rarely* Carrying - Rarely* Pushing - Rarely* Pulling - Rarely* Climbing - Rarely* Balancing - Rarely* Stooping - Rarely* Kneeling - Rarely* Crouching - Rarely* Crawling - Rarely* Reaching - Rarely* Handling - Occasionally* Grasping - Occasionally* Feeling - Rarely* Talking - Constantly* Hearing - Constantly* Repetitive Motions - Frequently* Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination - Frequently**Working Conditions*** Extreme cold - Rarely* Extreme heat - Rarely* Humidity - Rarely* Wet - Rarely* Noise - Occasionally* Hazards - Rarely* Temperature Change - Rarely* Atmospheric Conditions - Rarely* Vibration - RarelyThank you for your interest in Albany Medical Center!Thank you for your interest in Albany Med Health System!Albany Med Health System is an equal opportunity employer.This role may require access to information considered sensitive to Albany Med Health System, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including but not limited to HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by Federal and New York State statutes.
