SUMMARY/SCOPE: The Academic Advisor provides student support and academicguidance to university freshmen and sophomores and contributes directly to thesuccessful transition of all new students to the university environment. HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Workcollaboratively as part of the Academic Advising Center to provide academicsupport services to students. Provideacademic advising, guidance, and help to our new students as they choose andenroll in appropriate courses. Learn and stayup to date on requirements of academic programs, including related programs,program tracks, and degrees offered. Communicateprogram requirements to students. Meet withstudents individually before registration in person, by phone, and by email ortext. Collaboratewith university faculty and staff to address challenges, offer solutions, andhelp students to connect with their chosen academic programs. Performadministrative functions that include contact management documentation, filemaintenance, and reporting. All hours worked beyond 40 hours in a single work week willbe compensated at time and a half, per FLSA guidelines. Musthave and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear drivingrecord to be insurable under the university liability policy. Mustbe able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
