School Therapist - Pacoima, California

Step into a meaningful contract role supporting students as a School Therapist near Pacoima, CA. This flexible, part-time position (5-10 hours per week) runs from August 12, 2026, through June 4, 2027, and is open to both onsite and fully remote (VOCO) candidates who are passionate about therapeutic recreation in educational settings.
In this role, you'll work closely with a diverse caseload of four students located at various school sites, providing individualized therapeutic sessions tailored to each student's needs. Service breakdowns include 45-minute, 30-minute, and 85-minute weekly sessions. In addition to direct student support, you'll conduct comprehensive assessments and participate in annual IEP meetings, playing a vital part in each student's support team.
Ideal candidates will have one of the following credentials:
- Certificate from the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification
- Certificate from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation
- Certification from the National Recreation and Park Association (allowing for recreation or therapeutic recreation services)
- Conduct regular, individualized therapeutic recreation sessions with assigned students
- Complete targeted assessments and monitor student progress
- Attend and contribute to annual IEP meetings as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Adjust support as students' needs evolve throughout the school year
- Collaborate with school staff and families to optimize student outcomes
