Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Job Summary: The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach evaluates, motivates, and trains student‑athletes to improve performance through sport‑specific strength and conditioning programs. The role collaborates with head coaches, the athletic training staff, and the NCAA and CMS governing bodies to ensure safe, effective training and athlete welfare. Responsibilities Design and implement strength and conditioning programs for assigned varsity teams, covering strength, speed, agility, and quickness training. Conduct sport‑specific testing, maintain records, and share annual training plans via an online platform. Demonstrate exercises and drills using varied teaching methods; provide clear instruction to athletes. Supervise and maintain the weight room and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and organization. Collaborate with the athletic training staff on injury prevention and assist with rehabilitation of injured athletes. Assist in broader campus fitness programming, offering expertise on strength and conditioning principles. Ensure compliance with NCAA Division III, CMS Athletics, and SCIAC rules; report violations to the CMS Compliance Department. Maintain professional certifications and continue educational development in concussion management, mental health resources, and sexual violence prevention. Represent the CMS Department positively within the conference, regionally and nationally. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning and senior athletic staff. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s preferred). Experience: Minimum two years of collegiate strength and conditioning experience. Licenses & Certifications: NSCA CSCS, CSCCa, or SCCC Certified; maintain annual continuing education; First Aid/CPR/AED certification; valid driver’s license. Strong knowledge of strength training, conditioning, and athlete development; ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and training software. Organizational and time‑management skills to meet deadlines and maintain program records.
