About the Opportunity

A well-established and growing hospitality group in Brooklyn is seeking an experienced Restaurant Controller to oversee its accounting and financial operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on hospitality finance professional who understands the complexities of multi-location restaurant operations and can take ownership of the company's accounting function.

The ideal candidate will bring strong restaurant accounting experience, exceptional attention to detail, extensive QuickBooks knowledge, and the ability to work closely with leadership to maintain financial accuracy while improving systems and processes.

Position Overview

The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations across multiple restaurant locations and business entities.

This individual will be responsible for financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, cash flow management, accounts payable, payroll accounting, reconciliations, internal controls, compliance, and financial analysis.

The successful candidate will be both hands-on and strategic , with the ability to manage the details while providing leadership with clear and actionable financial information.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations for a multi-location hospitality organization
• Manage full-cycle accounting and general ledger activities
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
• Prepare consolidated financial reporting
• Analyze financial performance and identify trends, opportunities, and concerns
• Manage weekly cash flow reporting and monitoring
• Oversee accounts payable and vendor payment processes
• Review and reconcile payroll-related accounting
• Perform and oversee bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Monitor restaurant revenue, expenses, and financial performance
• Maintain strong internal accounting controls
• Establish and improve accounting policies and procedures
• Ensure financial records are accurate, organized, and compliant
• Coordinate external audits and financial reviews
• Manage sales tax, personal property tax, workers' compensation audits, and other applicable financial compliance requirements
• Review third-party vendor activity and financial transactions
• Partner with ownership and operational leadership on financial matters
• Improve accounting workflows, reporting systems, and processes
• Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and strengthen financial controls
• Support the organization's continued growth by developing scalable accounting processes

Systems Experience

The organization utilizes a range of hospitality and financial technology platforms.

Strong QuickBooks Enterprise experience is required.

Experience with restaurant systems such as Paycom, Toast, OpenTable, Melio, Square, Google Drive, and other hospitality technology platforms is a plus.

Candidates should be comfortable working across multiple systems and understanding how restaurant operational data flows into the accounting function.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or Controller-level experience
• Restaurant or hospitality accounting experience required
• Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting management experience
• Experience supporting multi-location and/or multi-entity operations
• Extensive QuickBooks experience required
• QuickBooks Enterprise experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting
• Experience with month-end and year-end close
• Strong financial statement preparation and analysis skills
• Experience with cash flow management and forecasting
• Experience overseeing accounts payable and payroll accounting
• Strong knowledge of accounting controls and procedures
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
