Physician Assistant Or Nurse Practitioner

The Allina Health Cancer Institute is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Hepatobiliary Program.

This is a full-time position located in Minneapolis at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. The role will provide independent outpatient care, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible treatment and support. This includes coordinating pre- and post-surgical care for our patients, collaborating closely with surgeons, and ensuring seamless communication. This role also provides inpatient care. Assisting in the OR when necessary, handling tasks such as patient prepping, assisting during surgical procedures, and closure. Performing various procedures, including wound care and drain care/removal.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
• Participates in health care team
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.
  • Works with primary care team for program development.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
• Must have first assist experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• New Graduates may be considered. Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience in Oncology or HPB.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire (NP)
• Certified Nurse Practitioner - MN Board of Nursing license required upon hire or Certified Physician Assistant- MN PA Medical license required upon hire.
• Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty or Certified Physician Assistant - (NCCPA) - National Commission Certification of Physician Assistants within specialty upon hire required.
• ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
• Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
• Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Physical Demands:

• Medium Work*: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range: $135,096 to $164,216 per yearThe pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
