Position Overview Bonus: Up to $20,000.00 (for Full-Time, 7 On/7 Off, and Weekend Only positions) Department & Unit Med Surg Stepdown - 4 South Schedule Full-Time Days: 3 12‑Hour shifts, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm Full-Time Nights: 3 12‑Hour shifts, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am Full-Time Weekend Nights: 2 12‑Hour shifts, Saturday & Sunday, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am Work Location UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham Benefits (eligible positions only) Generous paid time off, paid parental leave, Associate Assistance Program, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and more. Unit Overview 4 South is a 30‑bed medical and surgical stepdown unit at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham that cares for a wide range of patients and offers a dynamic environment for learning and developing your nursing skills. It's an ideal unit for nurses who are not ready for the intensity of an ICU but are seeking to advance their skills. We foster skill development and clinical expertise in a supportive, teaching‑focused setting. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols. Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate. Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well‑coordinated patient care. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Qualifications Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Accepted from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Accepted from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Education: Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and required professional licensure at time of hire. Additional Preferences No additional preferences.
