Food Services Manager

Description THE POSITION: The Food Services Manager fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by managing the school cafeteria and lunch program within the framework of the school's philosophy and organization. The Cafeteria Manager is responsible for coordinating and implementing the school's food program within the guidelines established by the school. The Food Services Manager has decision making responsibilities within essential job functions in keeping with school policies. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal and is a full-time position. Compensation: $17 - $18 per hour. Essential Duties Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of Denver Abides by the Confidentiality Policy set forth in the Faculty Handbook Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals Ensures that kitchen and serving area meet Colorado State and Larimer County Health Department guidelines Maintains appropriate State of Colorado food handler's certification as required for state/county inspections Demonstrates general knowledge of cooking and ability to follow recipes and creates menus Maintains accurate records for cafeteria operations . Fills out all forms and reports required for the Federal Lunch Program Maintains accurate inventory of food, supplies, and equipment and submits timely, cost-effective orders as needed Supervises cafeteria assistants and volunteers Supervises all aspects of the daily administration of meal programs at assigned school Monitors and prepares the food and/or the cooking of food to enforce standards for quality, flavor, and merchandising as required Opens and closes the kitchen, conducts routine sanitation inspections, and creates daily production reports Maintains all USDA standards such as food temperature checks. Organizes and manages stockroom and cold storage, and maintains inventory control Performs other related duties as assigned. Must have own transportation for pick up and delivery of lunch items from Sam’s club and Shamrock Distribution Plans, organizes, preps, and serves food for annual family luncheon Decorate cafeteria to celebrate seasons and provide a welcoming environment Trains and supervises food service workers in food preparation and safety and sanitation Plans and manages the budget to include food/supply/equipment procurement, staffing, and other cost-impact elements of the food service program Supervises students in the serving area regarding safety and behavior Maintains current and accurate lunch and bookkeeping records according to school policy Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by the Archdiocese of Denver and local administration Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students and staff Works in a team environment and encourages open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents and co-workers. Ensures that all staff and children are respectful of school property; ensures all school rules are followed Additional duties assigned by the principal Requirements Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Food Handlers certificate Meets state and local health regulations, as required Ability to maintain current CPR and 1st Aid certifications Ability to pass Criminal Record Background Clearance with no exemptions Maintain good physical health with the ability to perform job duties, lift 50 pounds, move quickly, bend, squat, kneel, sit on floor, reach overhead Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members, to accept supervision and to help promote a positive environment Excellent verbal communication skills, including clear speech enunciation, and accurate spoken English grammar that can serve as a good model for children who are developing their language skills Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to present to groups and individuals about the organization's mission Competencies and Qualifications Have a positive and supportive attitude toward the Catholic Church, her teachings and her work; refrain from public promotion or approval of any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic Doctrine or morals Able to communicate effectively both orally and verbally Able to work well with others in the school community Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously Skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable format Skill in job appropriate technology Skill in critical thinking and planning Good people skills are essential as the person who works in this position works around children and with others as a team Capable of receiving and following instructions A self‑starter, capable of independent work Must meet all requirements to pass a background check Warm nurturing attitude Friendly, inviting, self‑motivated, even‑tempered and adaptable Solid computer skills and ability to manage and report data accurately and efficiently Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities Must complete all classes/seminars as directed by St. John the Evangelist Catholic School and the Archdiocese of Denver Knowledge of and menu prep specific for food allergies Physical Requirements Required to lift or carry lunchroom supplies, food orders, furniture, and equipment to a minimum of 50 pounds Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and dishwashing Required to monitor students Required to maintain composure #J-18808-Ljbffr
