Medical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Overview

The Medical Telemetry unit is a 37-bed facility focused on providing care for patients monitoring cardiac function. This unit accommodates various patient diagnoses, including Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Atrial Fibrillation, Pulmonary Embolism, and Pneumonia, as well as managing patients with alcohol dependence and dementia who have cardiac co-morbidities. The unit also cares for surgical patients occasionally.

Position Details

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time position. The role requires rotating day, evening, and night shifts, with weekend coverage every other week. Candidates must be proficient in reading telemetry strips and administering cardiac drips. Key responsibilities include:

• Monitoring patients on cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin.
• Providing nursing care for patients who are post-cardiac catheterization and pacemaker placement.
• Collaborating with physicians and healthcare team members to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Adhering to established standards of care and maintaining accurate patient records.

Patient Care

The clinician-to-patient ratio is as follows:

• Day and Evening shifts: 1 RN to 4-5 patients
• Night shift: 1 RN to 5-6 patients

Day shifts on weekdays include support from a Charge RN without a patient assignment.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
• Minimum of 2 years working as a travel nurse.
• Active RN license in Massachusetts.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Telemetry certification is required.

Floating to applicable units may be required when necessary. The ability to interpret telemetry strips is essential for this role.

Charting System

The unit utilizes the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system for documentation and patient care management.
