RN Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:

The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse with couplet care experience will provide skilled nursing care to mothers and newborns in a rural community hospital setting. This role involves managing labor and delivery processes, performing fetal monitoring, and supporting nursery care. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care, including charge nurse responsibilities when assigned. A current Hawaii RN license and prior Labor & Delivery experience are essential. Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns, including couplet care.
• Perform intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring during labor and delivery.
• Manage and support approximately 45-50 deliveries per month.
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, overseeing unit operations and staff coordination.
• Collaborate with other departments as needed, floating to assist but not as a primary nurse.
• Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Hawaii.
• Minimum of 4 years of nursing experience with a focus on Labor & Delivery and nursery care.
• Proficiency in intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills in maternal and newborn health.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in couplet care management.
• Prior charge nurse or leadership experience.
• Ability to float and assist in other hospital departments.

Special Considerations:

• Must have a current Hawaii RN license.
• Additional hourly compensation when assigned charge nurse duties.
• Work environment includes rural community hospital setting.

Scheduling:

• Approximately 72-80 working hours every two weeks.
• Shift assignments may include day or night shifts based on hospital needs.
• Float assignments to other departments are occasional and not primary nursing roles.
