Physician Assistant Urgent Care

Position Highlights Practice Setting : Busy Urgent Care clinic serving a mixed patient population, treating patients ages 6 months and older. Located in the rapidly growing community of Hutto. Updated clinic space with strong operational support. Patient Volume Average 25‑30 patients per day. Broad urgent care scope including acute illness and minor injury management. Care Team & Support Collaboration with 5 Primary Care Physicians and 1 Endocrinology Physician. Dedicated support staff: 1 LVN and 1 CMA (1:1 support ratio) and 3 Patient Services Specialists (PSS). Lab services available Monday‑Friday. Schedule Clinic hours: Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM‑8:00 PM, Saturday & Sunday 9:00 AM‑5:00 PM. Rotating two‑week schedule: Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday Built‑in extended time off during rotation. Role & Responsibilities Provide autonomous urgent care management. Evaluate and treat acute conditions and minor injuries. Manage a diverse patient population across all ages (6 months+). Moonlighting opportunities available; practice independently while collaborating with physicians. Essential Functions of the Role Assess physical and mental conditions; perform comprehensive or problem‑focused physical exams and medical histories. Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests. Prescribe or recommend medical drug therapies or other treatments; perform procedures following approved policies. Formulate and implement comprehensive patient treatment plans, using evidence‑based medicine and standards of care. Collaborate with physicians and team members when appropriate; evaluate response to care and effectiveness. Counsel patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion. Maintain appropriate records detailing treatment plans and outcomes; initiate consultation and referral when necessary. Provide consultation-level services for conditions related to primary specialty and training; perform invasive procedures as delegated by supervising physician. May be required to perform patient‑care duties beyond the regular schedule based on coverage needs. Key Success Factors Knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of injuries, illnesses, drug properties, interactions, and preventive health‑care measures. Knowledge of procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions. Strong verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills. Critical thinking and complex problem‑solving skills. Proficiency in computer and related software applications. Ability to develop and implement outcomes-based patient treatment plans. Ability to counsel patients on medical and psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification. Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Qualifications Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Texas. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire. Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA). Graduate of an accredited PA program. Minimum 1 year of clinical experience preferred; less than 1 year acceptable. Certification/license/registration: Physician Assistant; BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
