School Nutrition Operations Support Associate

Support the LCS School Nutrition Program by accepting primary responsibility for the maintenance of the physical facility. Employees in this class receive on-the-job training in food and workplace safety and general cafeteria operation. The nature of work requires sustained moderate physical effort, operation of standard food service equipment, and continuous standing. The work is performed under the supervision of the site manager.

Keep floors (including drain grates) in the kitchen, dry storage rooms, and walk-in coolers clean and sanitized. Keep walls in the kitchen and serving areas clean. Remove garbage/trash from kitchen and dining area clean and prepare cans for the next day. Assist with food deliveries and place stock in dry storage and refrigeration/freezer. Bring food supplies from storage areas to preparation areas in the kitchen, maintaining proper stock rotation. Perform heavy lifting in the kitchen. Assist with loading and unloading food containers for satellite schools, where applicable. Keep milk coolers stocked for breakfast and lunch periods. Keep garbage/trash rooms, the loading dock, and outside areas surrounding the dock clean at all times. Maintain replacement of light bulbs and ceiling tiles, and keep the top of the equipment dust-free. Sweep and mop the Cafeteria each day. Assist manager with taking of food and supply inventories. Perform other duties as assigned by the cafeteria manager.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions. Detail-oriented and thorough. Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance. Ability to keep the school clean and orderly. Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors at school while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.
