Athletic Trainer – Vermont Air National Guard This Position Is Contingent Upon Bid Award

• Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.
• Type of Employment: Estimated 40 hours per week
• Estimated Period of Performance: September 23, 2026, through September 22, 2027.
• Type of Employment: Full-Time
• Estimated Pay: $31.14/hour

Working Hours
Tuesday through Saturday within 0600-1700, with typical five-hour periods of 0700-1200 or 1200-1700. Approximately eight night weeks per year may shift work as late as 2000; night-week times are coordinated about two weeks in advance.

Qualifications

• All personnel must be fully trained, licensed/certified, and qualified under Vermont and industry requirements.
• Must maintain Athletic Trainer certifications/licensure.
• Must hold and maintain active CPR/AED certification.
• Must demonstrate enhanced neck/back injury training such as McKenzie Method or equivalent.

Summary of Duties: The Athletic Trainer will conduct baseline evaluations and provide preventive and therapeutic care to fighter aircrew before and after flight, including soft-tissue and joint treatments, injury-risk reduction, and rehabilitation support. Educate personnel on injury prevention, maintain treatment records, ensure safe equipment use, and support program reporting.

Attire

The Athletic Trainer is expected to wear approved professional clothing appropriate to the environment while on duty. Footwear will be closed-toe, flat-bottom, and completely cover the feet; fluid resistance and non-slip soles are preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of ocular diseases and assist in the management of related systemic conditions.
• Conduct baseline and follow-up musculoskeletal evaluations.
• Provide preventive and therapeutic care before and after flight operations.
• Perform soft-tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, stretching, and traction techniques.
• Assess injury risk and develop individualized injury prevention strategies.
• Educate personnel on injury prevention, recovery, and safe movement techniques.
• Maintain accurate treatment records and program documentation.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of athletic training equipment.
• Support multidisciplinary human performance and rehabilitation initiatives.
