Job Type: Full-Time / Contract (36/48 Hour Alternating Rotation)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and clinical-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to fulfill a 12-week contract engagement at a state psychiatric hospital located in Osawatomie, KS . This position provides an exceptional opportunity to practice behavioral health and acute psychiatric nursing in a structured, highly secure, and collaborative inpatient environment.

Compensation Options:

• Travel Compensation Package: $28.00/hr + $1,246.00 weekly lodging/meals stipend (Exceeding 50 miles from Facility Address)
• Local Compensation Rate: $53.00 per hour (Within 50 miles of Facility Address)

Schedule:

• Rotation Schedule: Alternating 36/48-hour work weeks (Week 1: Three 12-hour shifts; Week 2: Four 12-hour shifts).
• Shift Availability: 12-Hour Night Shifts only.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric nursing assessments, intake screenings, and continuous patient observation for high-acuity behavioral health residents.
• Administer scheduled and PRN psychotropic medications, track pharmaceutical therapeutic responses, and manage meticulous clinical electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
• Provide crisis management, de-escalation interventions, and therapeutic communication to maintain a safe environment and promote patient recovery.
• Collaborate effectively with an on-site multidisciplinary treatment team, including psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatric technicians, and security personnel.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
• Active, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas (or an active multi-state compact license).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.
• Ability to successfully clear a comprehensive state background check, drug screening, and facility safety vetting.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, excellent clinical judgment, and a commitment to safe, objective, and trauma-informed patient care.
