Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year of specialty experience required License: RN License (state or compact) Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Antepartum trained to float to L&D with fetal monitoring experience - Ability to provide care for postpartum patients who do not need ICU level of care - Experience with high-risk patient populations Description: The position involves caring for mother-baby couplets in a postpartum setting. Candidates are expected to work rotating night shifts. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 couplets or up to 6 patients. This role requires competency in charting using Epic. The nurse will support breastfeeding for postpartum patients. Administration of medications, including magnesium and insulin drips, will be part of the responsibilities. Nurses will monitor newborns who do not require NICU level of care. The candidate must demonstrate skills in newborn assessments and care practices. Experience with phototherapy and PCA pump management is necessary. Ongoing education and support for parents will be part of the duties. The unit also cares for substance-exposed newborns and those requiring metabolic screening. Overall, the nurse will engage in discharge teaching and follow-up care for families.
