As our Lead CAD Designer, you’ll guide a high-performing drafting group that turns complex ideas into crisp, manufacturable drawings. Your day spans mentoring, standards stewardship, and hands-on design in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microvellum—anchored in the craft of architectural millwork and metal fabrication.
A Day in the Role- Kick off with a design review, aligning engineers and project managers on scope, tolerances, and build approach.
- Direct the drafting queue , assigning work, unblocking teammates, and upholding quality benchmarks.
- Hands-on modeling of complex millwork/metal assemblies and clear production details for commercial projects.
- Approve and elevate junior team deliverables with actionable feedback and coaching.
- Refine CAD standards , libraries, and templates to speed delivery and drive consistency.
- Onboard and train new hires in tools, workflows, and best practices.
- Manage timelines across multiple projects, communicating risks and keeping milestones on track.
- Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
- 5+ years in technical drafting/CAD design with a focus on millwork and metal .
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD and Microvellum ; proficiency with SolidWorks or similar tools.
- Strong grasp of engineering principles, materials, fabrication, and manufacturing workflows.
- Leadership experience with a passion for mentoring and team development.
- Sharp attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and dedication to quality.
- Comfort thriving in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities.
- Solid knowledge of commercial construction practices.
- Experience with Innergy (ERP/workflow) systems.
- CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microvellum.
