RN - Perioperative/PACU Specialist

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Perioperative/PACU Registered Nurse (RN), providing compassionate and expert care to patients before and after surgery. This role involves direct patient care using the nursing process, demonstrating clinical competence, and adhering to professional nursing ethics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a safe care environment.
• Deliver high-quality nursing care, including medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education, all within established policies.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and ensure safety, providing accurate information to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring efficiently to support compliance with core quality measures.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, team members, patients, and families to improve outcomes and enhance the patient experience.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Adapt positively to the dynamic healthcare environment, supporting organizational mission and values.
• Incorporate critical thinking into nursing practice and pursue ongoing education to develop skills.
• Perform delegated tasks to maintain quality and patient safety.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing school is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of healthcare experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Current RN license in a Compact State or the state of employment.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Mental and Physical Demands

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, as well as occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
