Vice President Operations

Job Description

VP of Operations opportunity for a leading construction / specialty trade contractor in the NYC area, responsible for leading 6-10 direct reports and 5 company BU's with 100's of employees generating nine-digit annual revenue across commercial, infrastructure and institutional projects typically valued over $10M, using self-perform, in-house employee labor for end-to-end planning and completion of projects. This is a high impact, visible role reporting direct to the EVP.

The salary is flexible in the $300k-$375k range, possibly $400k for a particularly strong fit, depending on experience and credentials, plus bonus.

\n

\n

The 5 BU's are headquartered in the Northeast (mostly) and Southwest. The company's NYC headquarters are in a highly accessible, vibrant commercial hub offering excellent access to multiple subway lines and trains.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

\n

\n
• Diverse, executive-level responsibilities include: heading up 5 U.S.-based BU's - own / manage / oversee / monitor P&Ls for the 5 BU's, margins on larger projects, strategic decisions & direction, project management, field execution, scheduling & labor productivity, QA/QC, customer satisfaction, OSHA safety compliance & regulatory compliance, KPIs, budgets, forecasts, operational excellence, and process improvements & optimization.

• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and under budget.

• Support corporate development / M&A
\n
• Lead and mentor BU / Operations / Regional leaders, hire / upgrade direct reports as needed, and support management-level personnel decisions.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

\n

\n
• 10+ years of applicable operations management experience at a similar management level performing relevant, diverse responsibilities at mid-to-large sized commercial construction or specialty trade contractor companies with annual revenue over $100M.
\n
• As this role includes monitoring the labor productivity, scheduling, field execution, and proper safety of labor employed by the company performing builds at project sites , it's REQUIRED candidates have strong, relevant 'hands on' experience at companies that employ and provide most if not all of the labor needed to physically perform project builds. Candidates with employment history mostly at companies that subcontract out the project-based labor are not a fit for this opportunity.

• Able to travel domestically up to approximately 40%.
\n
• Executive presence, strong leadership qualities, high EQ and effective communications skills.
\n
• Bachelor's degree preferred
\n
• MBA / Masters a plus
\n
• CCM, OSHA 30-Hour Construction and PMP a plus
\n
