Receiving and Processing AssociateSupervisor: Receiving & Processing CoordinatorJob Type/Status: Part-time (20hrs will include weekends)/Non-ExemptLocation: OnsiteJob SummaryThe Receiving and Processing (R&P) Associate is responsible for receiving donations of used building materials and surplus items then moving these materials, after the items have been priced, onto the Community Forklift (CF) warehouse floor. A primary responsibility of the R&P Associate is to assist in the daily maintenance of the warehouse by keeping the space clean, safe and presentable. The R&P Associate position helps the Sales staff assist shoppers by providing information about materials and products, and moving materials and products to the front end of the store as required. The R&P Associate provides support unloading the donation trucks, moving materials in the courtyard area and merchandising display areas as needed.Essential Job FunctionWarehouse FloorClean and organize merchandise displays and the warehouse to help maintain a clean and presentable environmentMove product from the processing areas and place in the appropriate area of the sales floorAssist the Sales team to merchandise products on the sales floor as requestedAccept and process donations from community drop-off donors; turning down items CF does not acceptEnsure that all CF donations forms are completely filled out and legible; then provide a copy for the donor and the CF donation forms filesAssist the Donations team in unloading the trucks when the vehicles return to the warehouseAssist with metal recycling program; stripping appliances and products of recyclable metals and placing into the appropriate containersFollow safety policies and proceduresCustomer ServiceProvide information to donors and customers about items that CF does not accept and offer alternative methods for donating or disposal of these materialsMove materials or products to the front desk sales area, as required, for customersAnswer customers questions for information on products or seek answers from other knowledgeable staffInteract professionally with customer and staff to promote CFPromote CF in-store activities, workshops and community outreach eventsProvide support and assistance for CF's in-store events by creating a festive and welcoming atmosphereTeamWork cooperatively and collaboratively with staff to fulfill the CF mission and support team activitiesOpenly and respectfully communicate with all CF staff with a commitment to conflict resolution communicationParticipate in organizational activities and meetingsProvide support and assistance to CF staff with activities and projects as requestedProvide clear and direct communication to supervisors and co-workers concerning opportunities or challenges you encounterTake a proactive attitude towards ensuring the safety of customers, your colleagues and yourself at all times.Minimum RequirementsCapacity to perform physical labor and moderate- to heavy-lifting (up to 60 lbs.) in a non-climate controlled environment including the ability to work in all seasons and in difficult weather conditionsAbility to think independently and make decisionsAbility to work well within a cooperative team-based work environmentAttention to detailAbility to fully follow through on work assignments in a timely mannerExceptional customer service skillsAbility to manage multiple responsibilities in a constantly changing environment.Knowledge and enthusiasm for recycling, reuse, sustainability, environmental advocacy and green businessInterpersonal and communication skills particularly the ability to work with diverse customersMust be available to work weekendsMust be authorized to work in the U.S.Education and Experience/QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED preferred4 years of experience can be substituted in lieu of educationCompensation$17 per hourImportant Disclaimer Notice:The above statements are only intended to represent the essential job functions and general nature of the work being performed and are not exhaustive of the tasks that an Associate may be required to perform.
