Job Summary:
The Accounts Receivable (AR) Clerk is responsible for daily billing operations, customer invoicing, cash application, collections support, and month-end closing activities related to accounts receivable. This role ensures accurate and timely recording of revenue and customer payments while maintaining strong internal controls and supporting financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and process customer invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
• Review contracts, purchase orders, and supporting documents to ensure proper billing.
• Apply customer payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, credit cards) to appropriate accounts.
• Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Monitor outstanding balances and support collection efforts.
• Maintain AR aging schedules and generate AR reports.
• Assist with month-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare AR account reconciliations and ensure ledger accuracy.
• Support revenue recognition in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
• Maintain organized documentation for AR transactions.
• Assist with process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Coordinate with Sales, Operations, and Customer Service teams.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable or accounting.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles (GAAP preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Experience in a high-volume billing environment.
• Knowledge of revenue recognition practices.
