What Will You Do

• Support various Durability CIPT product teams in addressing business critical challenges related to hardware environmental exposure.
• Collaborate across disciplines and with HSE Methods team to environmental exposure tool sets requirement, inputs and outputs in alignment with the vision for Durability Design System.
• Contribute to define road-map for future models for environmental interaction with engine components.
• Identify gaps in existing environmental exposure predictive tools and collaborate with data acquisition teams to define test plans to bridge the gaps.
• Develop standard best practice for utilization and interpretation of CFD-based particle tracking models to evaluate hot section components.
• Develop, manage, validate and calibrate predictive models of environmental exposure interactions with engine components.
• Develop validation plans for environmental effects on engine components and support environmental rig and engine testing.
• Track fleet hardware environmental exposure and review environmental impacts on fielded engine hardware.
• Benchmark data and best practices from academia, government, industry.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
• 5 years of engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years of engineering with an advanced degree

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Background in Aero Thermal Sciences with concentration in heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• Knowledge of gaspath hardware failure modes and mission life modeling for typical limiting modes such as oxidation, creep, corrosion and TMF.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as, investment casting, laser and EDM hole drilling, airflow, metallic and ceramic coatings
• Dirt/Particulate transport characterization and interaction with turbine hardware.

Hot Section Engineering (HSE)

Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.

Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.

What is my role type?

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
