Staff Accountant

Job SummaryWe are looking for a Staff Accountant to oversee general accounting operations for our company. Staff accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances, bank statements, maintaining the fixed asset module and assisting in month-end close procedures. This role requires analytical skills, knowledge of accounting principles and attention to detail necessary to ensure accurate reporting in all areas.Essential FunctionsPrepare journal entries on a daily and monthly basis, ensuring accurate account balances.Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.Enter, dispose, and inventory in the fixed assets module.Prepare and submit annual tangible tax returns for all reporting entities.Perform month end accounting duties in accordance with closing schedule.Assist in maintaining and updating accounting policies and procedures.Analyze and communicate general ledger and other financial variances.Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.Understand internal control procedures and regulations.Prepare quarterly schedules and external and internal audit requests.Assist with special projects as needed.All other duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required.2 to 3 years of accounting or finance experience required.Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesDetail oriented and thoroughAbility to perform consistent work to the highest of standardsKnowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures and internal control procedures and regulationsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Good verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills.Knowledge of accounting software required, Oracle based JD Edwards General Ledger System and Quickbooks preferred.Physical DemandsAbility to operate normal office equipment.Extensive use of computer.Ability to sit for extended periods of time.Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.Working ConditionsNormal office environment.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not an exclusive list of all duties and responsibilities.
