Travel Surgical Tech/ORT - Certified Surgical Technologist/CST

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with strong general, orthopedic, and neurosurgical experience for a Level I Trauma OR position in southwest Virginia.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience required
• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA, NCCT, or military OR Tech certification accepted
• Strong general, orthopedic (total joints), and neurosurgical experience required
• Big belly/crani/ortho trauma experience highly preferred
• Robotic training highly preferred
• License required if applicable
• VA state license or other state license required; out-of-state license holders must obtain VA licensure, with a 90-day authorization available to work while licensure is pending

Responsibilities

• Level I Trauma OR for southwest Virginia featuring 25 OR suites with 24x7 onsite nursing coverage
• Services include general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, oncology, robotic surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and sports medicine
• Patient population includes neonates, adolescents, infants, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Uses specialized equipment including ROSA, Si and Xi daVinci robots, Stealth, O-Arm, and HIPEC
• Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours, 11a-9p, with a random day off
• Weekend rotation and call rotation required alongside staff
• Occasional weekends and holidays required
• Hospital is a 703-bed acute care teaching facility and the only Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatrics) in the region
• Magnet-designated for nursing excellence and affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
• Certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Local candidates are not accepted; radius rule criteria apply
• Previous employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Facility does not allow travelers to return after having worked 365 days on assignment, regardless of separation period, with exceptions reviewed case-by-case by facility leadership
