Description

Objective: This isn't a job for someone who just wants to drive a truck. It's a job for someone who takes pride in every lift, every load, and every last impression at the customer's door.


Mackey's has been Connecticut's trusted, family-owned farm and home supply store for over 55 years. Our mission is to be the most TRUSTED and RELIABLE retail service - and for many of our customers, the Delivery Driver is the only Mackey's employee they'll ever meet face-to-face.

We'll be direct: this is physical work behind the wheel - lifting feed bags, hay bales, soil, and bulky goods, stop after stop, in all kinds of weather. What separates a great Mackey's driver isn't just the ability to lift and drive. It's showing up on time, treating every customer's property with care, and representing our name well when no manager is riding along. Those qualities are rarer than a clean driving record.

What You'll Do

• Safely deliver Mackey's products to customers - on time, in proper condition, and with genuine care

• Load, secure, and transport agricultural supplies, pet products, soil, bales of hay, and bulky goods

• Lift and carry heavy and awkward items at every stop, all shift, every shift

• Represent Mackey's professionally at every stop - dependable, kind, and solutions-oriented

• Communicate proactively with the team about delivery status and any customer needs

• Handle and store merchandise to protect product integrity and customer safety

• Support warehouse and store operations as needed between deliveries

Requirements

Required

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

• Genuine physical capability and stamina - regularly lifting up to 60 lbs, including bulky and awkward items, stop after stop

• Dependability - the team and our customers count on you showing up ready, every day

• Professional demeanor - you represent Mackey's well at every stop, with no one supervising you in the moment

• Genuine customer service mindset - every delivery is a chance to earn a customer's trust

• Safe driving habits and strict commitment to all traffic laws and company vehicle policies

• Team orientation - you communicate clearly with dispatch and help others succeed

• Must be 18 years or older

Preferred

• Experience operating equipment or large vehicles

• Customer service or retail background

• Forklift experience or experience with motorized equipment/tractors

• Familiarity with agricultural products, pet supplies, or farm and home goods

Schedule & Availability

• Full-time and part-time opportunities available

• Weekday and availability required (8 a.m.-7 p.m.)

• Year-round position with peak demand in spring and during the holiday season

Pre-Employment

All candidates are subject to pre-employment screening as a standard part of the hiring process, which may include drug testing, reference verification, and a background check. A clean motor vehicle record is required.
