Ballyhoo Hospitality is seeking an energetic, hospitality focused Server to join our team at Sophia Steak in River North.

Concept Overview: Sophia Steak is a Ballyhoo Hospitality concept that reimagines the classic steakhouse through a modern neighborhood lens, with locations in Downtown Chicago, Wilmette, and Lake Forest. Known for prime steaks, fresh seafood, seasonal dishes, and indulgent sides, the restaurant balances timeless steakhouse traditions with a vibrant and approachable dining experience.

Each location features a stylish dining room and lively bar where guests gather for celebratory dinners, business meals, or relaxed evenings over classic cocktails and a thoughtfully curated wine list. The atmosphere blends polished design with warm hospitality, creating a destination that feels both refined and welcoming. Sophia Steak locations also feature elegant private dining spaces designed for celebrations, private events, and group gatherings.

Server Job Summary: As the primary point of contact for guest interactions in the dining room, the Server
is responsible for selling & serving food & beverages using their knowledge, hospitality and
service skills. Must be pleasant, conscientious and professional with excellent knowledge of
food & alcoholic beverage selections. Must be comfortable suggesting food & wine pairings,
craft beers, and aperitifs and familiar with local beverage products. Must be able to operate
effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly, ensure smooth service operations and
provide consistent, pleasant, quality service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet and seat guests promptly and professionally.
• Guide guests through their dining experience with knowledge and hospitality focus.
• Take and submit food and beverage orders through a point of sale system.
• Communicate dietary restrictions, allergies, and special requests to the kitchen and bar.
• Deliver food and beverages accurately and ensure guest satisfaction.
• Collaborate with service staff to clear and reset tables efficiently.
• Prepare checks and process payments in a timely manner.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining the dining area and other restaurant tasks as needed.
• Participate in Pre-Shift meetings and stay informed about menu items.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years of previous restaurant experience required; fine-dining experience preferred.
• Maintain a BASSET and ServSafe Food Handlers Certification.
• Extensive knowledge of food and beverage preparation and handling.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with Point of Sale system (Toast Preferred).
• Must be able to work Weekends, Evenings and Holidays.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds.
