POSITION DETAILS Location: Hattie Mae White; Department: CTE - 2; Area: District Wide; Contract Months: 12; Salary Range: $85,000.00 – $105,000.00; Academic Year: 26-27. JOB SUMMARY The Coordinator 2 – Career Exploration designs, implements, and promotes CTE career exploration programs districtwide. This position reports to the Director 1, CTE 1 and facilitates career exploration programs aligned with CTE Program of Study participation and CCMR accountability goals to all HISD elementary and middle schools. It also uses the district’s Career Readiness Wagon, and plans and implements instructional strategies, activities, and work-related equipment. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Facilitate career exploration programs in alignment with CTE Program of Study participation and student achievement of CCMR Accountability goals at all HISD elementary and middle school campuses. Utilize existing district curriculum and create new instructional activities/materials for events and programs that implement the district’s Career Readiness Wagon. Create and facilitate career exploration activities including resume/cover letter writing, mock interviews, job/internship searches, field trips, on-the-job skills development, career planning, goal setting, and modeling workplace readiness behaviors. Seek grant opportunities and collaborate with industry partners to support career awareness and exploration opportunities for elementary and middle school levels. Collaborate with team members to plan and organize meetings, workshops, and events, including scheduling, logistics, and materials preparation. Regularly engage customers, clients, and end users through frequent school visits to gather personal feedback on the impact of activities and needs. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree required. WORK EXPERIENCE At least 5 years working in the district/central office of a large urban school district. SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION Microsoft Office; CDL License preferred (or ability to obtain a CDL license within 6 months of employment). LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Provides project management or team leadership to a group of two or more employees, monitoring work and offering guidance on escalated issues. Most of the work time is spent performing the same duties they are leading. WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT Work is substantially complex and requires selection and application of technical guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply appropriate methods and to interpret precedent. The position regularly makes recommendations to management on significant areas. BUDGET AUTHORITY Compiles and organizes data and figures. PROBLEM SOLVING Decisions are made on routine and non-routine matters with latitude but are subject to approval. The job may recommend new solutions and improve existing methods. IMPACT OF DECISIONS Decisions have considerable impact on multiple divisions or the organization, causing risks or improvements to relationships, efficiencies, or financial outcomes. Errors can lead to significant costs or project delays. COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS Collaborates to resolve problems, clarifies complex information, and provides initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interacts with customers, senior staff, and managers. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS Leads resolution of highly sensitive and confidential issues, acts as trusted advisor, and presents alternatives in decision-making. Monitors customer service standards. WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Work is normally performed in a typical interior environment without hazardous or unpleasant elements. Ability to carry or lift less than 15 pounds.
