Safety Coordinator

Job Summary The Safety Coordinator has full responsibility for the company safety program; ensures compliance with OSHA, and can assist with litigation and loss prevention generally, and within the insurance program. Essential Duties / Responsibilities Maintain currency of the safety programs by monitoring legislative actions, evaluating new requirements, and developing new programs. Audit plant safety programs for compliance and training effectiveness. Report all inspections/inquiries to GM/RSM. Monitor accident reports and analysis for identification of trends. Investigate accidents/incidents. Maintain accident files. Train plant and transportation personnel in required OSHA programs (Orientation, Monthly OSHA, etc.). Initiate changes in plant processes and procedures to implement a safe work environment. Complete OSHA 511 or OSHA 30 within one year of employment. Respond to communications such as calls, emails, and text messages at all times including nights and weekends. All other duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Must be able to work weekends and holidays as business needs arise. Highly organized; superior time management skills. Exceptional communication skills both written and oral. Self‑motivated; self‑starter. Work well with all levels of the corporation. Effective trainer. Ability to evaluate new regulations and change programs to ensure continued compliance. Ability to travel 5% of the time. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of OSHA regulations. One or two years of progressive safety experience. Professional experience or certification as a trainer preferred. Good computer skills in Microsoft Office applications. Physical Demands Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch. Occasionally required to lift, push, pull, or move up to 50 lbs. Regularly required reach with hands and arms. Work Environment Job functions will be carried out in multiple environments including office, plant, customer location, and transportation vehicles.
