Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Educator Certification
  • Expertise in braille instruction and assistive technology
  • Previous experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired
  • Fingerprinting per state requirements (prior prints may be valid via AHCA Clearinghouse)
  • Ability to onboard for a JLA badge (up to 10 business days)
  • Flexible to support multiple school sites as an itinerant/virtual professional

Responsibilities:

  • Coach and build capacity among school-based staff
  • Offer intensive support at the beginning of the year, easing as confidence grows
  • Promote consistent instructional practices across the district
  • Assist teachers working with students who have more complex visual needs
