HVAC Truck Based Journeyman Mechanic (union)

Responsibilities Perform maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial HVACR systems (heating, cooling, rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing). Collaborate with Journeymen to repair centrifugal turbines, steam turbines, absorption machines, open‑drive screw chillers and ammonia systems. Pass required examinations to assess proficiencies in special skills. Provide factory certification, recognition, and monetary rewards through the Service Technical Academy (STA). Maintain safety focus, wear protective gear, and utilize tools, uniforms, and a company vehicle to serve customers at the highest standard. Receive incentive programs and benefit from a primary focus on employee safety. Act as a trusted advisor, diagnosing and resolving facility inefficiencies, recommending solutions, upselling opportunities, and providing accurate quotes. Participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program. Qualifications Member (or willing to join) of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO. Minimum 8 years of commercial/industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in HVAC or Data Center environments. Proficiency installing complete systems (chillers, rooftop units, plumbing, and supporting mechanical systems). Ability to perform mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, lasers, and vibration equipment to troubleshoot driveline issues. Capability to write and communicate problem, cause, and corrective actions to customers. Proficient in preparing accurate quotes and participating in sales quoting processes. Self‑starter, detail oriented, with strong interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills. Valid EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license. Willingness to learn and to work as part of a North America Branch team, providing system troubleshooting, repair and aftermarket services. Compensation & Benefits This is a Bargaining Unit Position. Pay Range: $36.62 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
