MSP Automation Engineer
$80k - $110kTwin Networks, Inc.
Job Description
Job Description
Twin Networks is a managed IT services provider in Connecticut. We're in the middle of a transformation we call MSP 4.0 — moving from reactive, ticket-driven support toward automation-first service delivery.
We build systems that solve problems before a client picks up the phone, standardize how we manage environments, and deliver real outcomes instead of labor hours.
We need someone to help us build that.
THE ROLE
This is an automation-first position. Your primary job is to build workflows, scripts, and processes that eliminate manual, repetitive work across our client base. You'll work primarily in Rewst (our automation platform), PowerShell, and the Microsoft 365 admin stack — building automated client onboarding and offboarding, AD/O365 hygiene scripts, and web forms that replace email-based requests with real processes.
You need strong IT fundamentals: Active Directory, M365 administration, and basic networking. But your value here isn't being the person who fixes things. It's being the person who builds the system so things get fixed automatically, consistently, and at scale.
WHAT YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME ON
• Building and refining automation workflows in Rewst — onboarding/offboarding, user provisioning, license management, security policy enforcement.
• Creating Rewst web forms for service requests, client intake, and internal processes — turning ad-hoc emails and phone calls into standardized workflows.
• Writing and scheduling PowerShell scripts for AD and O365 hygiene: stale account cleanup, MFA compliance audits, license reconciliation, security group management.
• Connecting our tools — Datto RMM, Autotask, M365, and our documentation platform — through Rewst integrations so data flows automatically instead of being re-entered by hand.
• Using AI tools to accelerate script and workflow development. We don't expect you to write everything from scratch. We expect you to work smart.
• Documenting what you build so it's maintainable. No more tribal knowledge.
• Helping clients when needed. The phone doesn't ring constantly, but when a client needs help, you should be comfortable jumping in.
WHAT YOU BRING (REQUIRED)
• Solid Active Directory: user/group management, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP. You don't need to be a domain architect, but you need to understand the logic well enough to automate it.
• Microsoft 365 administration: Exchange Online, SharePoint, Entra ID, Conditional Access, license management — managed in a real environment, not just studied for a cert.
• PowerShell scripting. You can write scripts that query, modify, and report on AD and M365. You understand loops, error handling, and what makes something production-ready instead of a one-off.
• Basic networking: firewalls, VPNs, DNS resolution, VLANs. Enough to troubleshoot and understand what you're automating.
• Experience working in or with an MSP, or strong familiarity with multi-tenant IT management.
• The ability to think in processes, not just tasks. When you see a manual workflow, your instinct is to ask how to automate it.
NICE TO HAVE
• Rewst experience — workflows, crates, forms. If you've connected Rewst to Datto, Autotask, or M365, say so.
• Datto RMM and Autotask PSA.
• Other automation/integration platforms: Power Automate, Zapier, or API-based integrations.
• Certifications: Microsoft (AZ-104, MS-102), CompTIA (Network+, Security+), or similar.
• Documentation platforms like IT Glue or Hudu.
WHO YOU ARE
• You'd rather spend a day building a workflow that eliminates 50 future tickets than heroically closing 50 tickets by hand.
• You're curious about how things work under the hood. When you use a tool, you want to understand its API, not just its GUI.
• You take ownership of what you build. You test it, document it, and make sure it works in production — not just in your head.
• You communicate clearly. You can explain what your automation does to non-technical people without making them feel dumb.
• You finish what you start. You see things through to deployment, not just proof-of-concept.
WHAT WE OFFER
• $80,000 – $110,000 depending on experience.
• Hybrid schedule based out of Centerbrook, CT. We believe in flexibility, but collaboration happens best in the same room.
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
• Two weeks paid time off to start, accruing with tenure, plus 14 paid holidays.
• Training and certification support with paid exam fees.
• A real seat at the table — you'll work directly with the owner to shape how we deliver services.
• The chance to build something from the ground up. Our automation platform is early, so you're not inheriting someone else's messy workflows.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply with your resume, and include a short note (not a form cover letter) describing an automation, script, or workflow you built and what it replaced. What was manual before? What's automated now? We care more about how you think than what acronyms you've collected.
