Position: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Location: Hempstead, New York
Shift: Full-Time
Salary: $35–$40 per hour (based on experience)

Nassau Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team. This full-time opportunity is ideal for a dedicated professional committed to helping patients improve their independence and quality of life.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of individualized patient treatment plans

• Conduct therapeutic activities under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist

• Monitor and document patient progress and communicate updates to the supervising OT

• Instruct patients and families on treatment plans and proper use of therapeutic equipment

• Support patients in improving cognitive, physical, and emotional functioning

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

• Modify treatment plans in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist as needed

• Educate patients and families on daily tasks and rehabilitation activities

• Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes

Candidate Requirements

• Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

• NBCOT certification

• Current state licensure/certification as required

• Nursing home or skilled nursing experience preferred

• Minimum of 2 years experience preferred

Critical Qualifications & Skills

• Prior experience in a healthcare setting

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to adapt to diverse patient needs and environments

• Proficiency with occupational therapy tools and equipment

• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards

• Compassionate, patient-centered approach

• Familiarity with  SigmaCare and Net Health preferred
