RN Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:

The Level 3 Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) on the night shift is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients ranging from neonates to geriatric individuals, including medical, surgical, psychiatric, and obstetrical patients. The role involves assessing clinical conditions, formulating nursing diagnoses, developing individualized care plans, administering therapeutic measures, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The nurse will also provide technical guidance to other staff, ensure a safe environment, and maintain professional standards. A minimum of 2 years of experience and certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NRP are required. Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' clinical conditions and recognize serious situations requiring immediate action.
• Formulate nursing diagnoses and develop individualized care plans, including discharge planning.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, respiratory therapy, and other prescribed treatments.
• Operate and monitor emergency care equipment such as infusion pumps, ventilators, and cardiac monitors.
• Initiate emergency measures in the absence of a physician.
• Provide patient and family education on preventative, curative, and rehabilitative measures.
• Document nursing interventions, patient status, and coordinated care activities.
• Evaluate patient progress and update care plans accordingly.
• Provide oversight, technical guidance, and delegation to licensed practical nurses and unlicensed personnel.
• Maintain adequate supplies and equipment and promote a safe care environment.
• Demonstrate leadership and role model professional nursing behavior.
• Adhere to ethical, legal, and professional nursing standards.
• Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and families.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
• Certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical demands including standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Successful completion of pre-employment credentialing including background check and drug screening.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in postpartum nursing care.
• At least 3 years of nursing experience.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to work night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Required to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week, including every other weekend and holidays as needed.
• Must be available to start on September 30, 2026.

Scheduling:

• Night shift schedule: 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Shifts assigned to ensure coverage including weekends and holidays on an every-other-week basis.
• Duration of assignment is approximately 13 weeks.
