Litigation Paralegal

Overview

A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join its New York office. This role provides comprehensive support to attorneys throughout all stages of litigation, including case planning, legal research, discovery management, and trial preparation.

The Litigation Paralegal works closely with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to assist with case development, document preparation, factual investigations, and analysis of legal information. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities

Case Management & Litigation Support

• Assist attorneys with case planning, development, and management across all phases of litigation.

• Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss case strategy and project requirements.

• Maintain litigation calendars and track key deadlines.

• Organize and maintain case files, including pleadings, exhibits, depositions, discovery materials, and other case-related documents.

Legal Research & Analysis

• Conduct legal research using statutes, regulations, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other sources.

• Prepare written summaries and analyses of legal research for attorneys.

• Review legal documents for factual and citation accuracy, including legal cite checking and fact checking.

Discovery & Document Management

• Assist attorneys with all phases of discovery, including drafting discovery requests and responses.

• Manage document collection, organization, and review.

• Coordinate electronic filing of pleadings and discovery materials with courts.

• Utilize eDiscovery and litigation support platforms to manage case materials.

Client & Witness Coordination

• Interview clients and witnesses and prepare summaries of statements and findings.

• Gather facts and retrieve relevant information to support case development.

Trial & Hearing Preparation

• Assist with deposition preparation and coordination, including attending depositions when necessary.

• Support arbitration and mediation proceedings.

• Prepare trial materials including exhibits, binders, and evidence files.

• Assist attorneys during hearings and trials as required.

Administrative & Additional Duties

• Track and maintain records of billable hours for assigned matters.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support litigation teams and case needs.

• Travel occasionally to court proceedings when required.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably within a mid-to-large law firm environment.

• Paralegal certificate required.

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field preferred.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Experience with eDiscovery platforms and trial support software.

• Familiarity with electronic filing systems and litigation document management.
