Registered Nurse (RN) - Corrections

Correctional RN – Nursing

Schedule: Shift: 12-hour shifts; contracts available as 36- or 48-hour options. Weekends: Every-other-weekend required.

Assignment Details: Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week. Minimum assignment length: 10 weeks.

Requirements: Minimum 1 year nursing experience required. Corrections experience preferred; if no corrections experience, must have 1 year ED experience to pass. If only med-surg experience, should have at least 2 years in a very busy large facility (350+ beds). Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (MOAB training provided during orientation if needed).

Roles & Responsibilities: Triage and assess new admissions. Provide routine and emergency care. Conduct sick and urgent evaluations. Manage detox rounds and provide referrals to dental and mental health providers.

Compliance / Notes: Background check required. Drug screen required within 30 days of start. Compliance documents due 10 days prior to start. Pre-approved time off: one event allowed per contract. RTO guidelines: maximum 7 days preferred; no RTO during first 7 days or on last day of contract. MOAB certification must be obtained during orientation if not already held; failure may result in contract cancellation.
