About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Correctional Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Registered Nurse, preferably in corrections or emergency department License: Must provide a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (MOAB certification will be provided if not already held) Must-Have: - MOAB certification required; if not held, passing the de-escalation course is mandatory during the first week. - Experience in phlebotomy, starting IVs, managing high flow nasal cannulas, and isolation precautions. Description: The Registered Nurse will provide routine and emergency healthcare to patients. The RN will conduct health assessments and make necessary referrals to providers, including detoxification, dental, and mental health professionals. Responsibilities include triaging and assessing new patients to the facility, conducting detox rounds as per protocol, and handling urgent care and sick calls. The facility capacity is approximately 1900 inmates, with a fluctuating average daily population currently around 1640. The RN must ensure adherence to safety protocols and manage emergency situations as needed. Travelers without previously held MOAB certification are required to pass an in-person MOAB training during the orientation week. Shifts are 12 hours long, and the RN will be required to work every other weekend. The role may involve floating between various areas of the facility. Applicants should have experience in a busy facility, and those with emergency department or medical-surgical experience are encouraged to apply. This position requires an ability to manage a variety of medical concerns within a correctional setting. All relevant skill sets should include emergency response, wound care, telemetry, and mental health management.
