About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ER Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required; will consider 1.5 years with Level 1 trauma experience License: New Mexico license can pend at time of submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (must have TNCC prior to signing) Must-Have: - Level 1 trauma experience preferred - Travel experience strongly preferred Description: Travelers should expect their assignments to include primarily admitted patients. Approximately 60%-80% of the Emergency Department consists of admitted patients. Many of the ED rooms are designated as "ED Holding." Medication administration is required, including IV medication via the seven medication rights. Clinicians should document and communicate clinical findings effectively. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5. Weekend scheduling will be required as needed. Weekend days include Saturday and Sunday, while weekend nights consist of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Floating to adult PCUs is an expectation based on staffing needs. Travelers may also float to ED Holding and Trauma as necessary. No locals are accepted within a 100-mile radius. Pre-approved time off is not applicable. The facility provides interdisciplinary support such as respiratory services and pharmacy. Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The daily census ranges from 170-200 patients, with an average of 175 visits per day. Competitive experience with trauma/resuscitation is preferred. Bar code medication scanning is an expectation for all employees. All candidates must begin compliance documentation shortly after signing.
