About the Position

Job Title: Correctional Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Correctional Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Pending license accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (facility will provide) Must-Have: MOAB certification required; must pass facility background check Description: No locals within a 100-mile radius. The RN will provide patients with routine and emergency healthcare. The RN will conduct health assessments and make necessary referrals to providers. They will be responsible for detoxification, dental, and mental health professionals. The RN will triage and assess new patients to the facility. This involves conducting detox rounds as per protocol. The facility capacity is approximately 1900 inmates. The average daily population fluctuates, currently averaging around 1640. Different areas in the facility may affect the number of patients seen on average. First-timers accepted, but prior experience preferred. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. The RN must be able to accommodate block scheduling. Special requirements include skills such as phlebotomy, starting IVs, and oxygen administration. Isolation precautions must be followed. Additional skills include non-invasive airway management and oral suctioning. Interdisciplinary support services are available. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. Daily census ranges from 1800 to 1950. This position may involve floating between detox, medical/intake, and behavioral health areas. Job responsibilities include urgent care and sick calls in the pods. Travelers without MOAB certification must complete an in-person MOAB training during the first week of work or their contract may be terminated. Candidates must provide documentation for licensing and certifications. This role is suited for professionals who have excellent critical thinking and assessment skills. Candidates should be prepared to handle a dynamic and sometimes challenging work environment. This position entails providing care in a correctional setting.
