Pulmonary And Critical Care Medicine Physician

UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham Pulmonary Group is seeking a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine physician. The position involves a blend of inpatient and outpatient clinic practice with rotating call coverage among the physician group.

Work location is UAB St. Vincent's Hospital, 800 Saint Vincent's Drive, Suite 600, Bham Al 35205.

Preferred completion of an accredited Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship, Board certification in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine.

Job duties include providing diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients with acute and chronic pulmonary diseases such as COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension. Manage critical care patients in the ICU, including those requiring mechanical ventilation and advanced life support measures. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaboration with medical staff to ensure coordinated care. Maintain all aspects of outpatient pulmonary clinic.

Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Recommending, participating in, and working to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients. Accepting patient referrals from other physicians. Acting as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital. Participating in academic programs as requested. Providing appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner. Participating in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

Licensure/Certification/Registration required: Licensed Graduate Doctoral Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.

Education required: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
