About Shelter Church Shelter Church is a vibrant and growing community in Apex, North Carolina. We exist to glorify Jesus Christ by making disciples who are rooted in His Word, grounded in community, and sent to share our refuge with the world. To learn more about the church, visit Role Summary We are seeking a passionate Worship Director to lead our congregation in heartfelt, Christ-centered worship. This is a part-time position (10–15 hours/week) with a flexible, hybrid schedule for non‑Sunday tasks. Note: based on performance and alignment, this role has the potential to expand into a full‑time position. What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities) Lead & Develop: Oversee our worship band, audio, visual, and service director teams. Worship Leadership: Lead worship vocally and instrumentally. Collaboration: Work with the Lead Pastor to create liturgical elements and choose weekly songs. Administration: Manage Planning Center, ProPresenter, and the worship/AV budget. Who We’re Looking For Spiritual Maturity: A biblical character consistent with 1 Timothy 3:8–13 and a commitment to our mission. Skill Set: Strong vocal/instrumental leadership and experience with (or a desire to learn) modern worship tools (Planning Center/ProPresenter). Team Player: A desire to lead from a team approach alongside our elders and lay leaders. Preferred: Original songwriting experience and engagement with the Wake County music scene.
