Contract | Days | 5x8 Hours (6:45 AM – 3:15 PM) | Onsite | Includes call rotation (weekend and evening)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct perioperative nursing care in a cardiovascular operating room setting, including scrub and circulating roles
• Assist with complex cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures including CABG, valve replacements, LVAD/RVAD, AAA repair, and thoracic surgeries
• Operate and assist with advanced surgical equipment including Impella, Da Vinci Robot, Sternal Lock, Laser, and camera systems
• Participate in on-call rotation including weekend and evening call coverage
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical teams in a high-acuity, Level I Trauma, teaching hospital environment

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia state license or valid Compact license required (pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• Current BLS certification
• Scrub experience required
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac procedures including CABG, Mitral Valve replacement, MAZE procedure, IABP, femoral cannulation, Atrial Septal Defect Repair, Cardiomyoplasty, and Pericardial Window
• Demonstrated experience with thoracic procedures including Lobe Resection, Mediastinoscopy, Thoracotomy, and Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS)
• Prior experience in a teaching hospital environment, Level II Trauma or higher

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CNOR certification preferred
• Experience with advanced surgical technology including Da Vinci robotic systems and Impella device
• Experience in a Magnet-designated facility or Level I Trauma Center
