Non-Certified Nursing Assistant (NCNA)The Non-Certified Nursing Assistant (NCNA) is responsible for performing the day-to-day activities of the nursing department in accordance with regulatory guidelines.Essential Functions Statement(s)Assists with lifting, positioning and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc, keeping with specific resident safety needsAssists residents in ambulation, with or without self-help devices, as instructedPerforms restorative and rehabilitative procedures, as instructedEnsures call lights are within reach of residents and answers call lights promptlyEnsures residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequentlyEnsures residents' personal care needs are being met in accordance with residents' wishesReports all changes in residents' condition to supervisor promptlyChanges bed linensStraightens dresser tops and standsMaintains cleanliness of resident units, central bathing area, treatment/supply rooms, workrooms, linen closetsIdentifies and reports abnormal skin conditionsTurns bedfast residents as instructedProvides Range of Motion exercisesAssists with application of adaptive devicesAssists with food service procedures by ensuring residents are positioned appropriately for meals with appropriate utensils within reach; serving food; assisting with proper hydration; assisting with snack distribution and reportingFollows all appropriate safety and security guidelines, procedures and protocol for residents in the special careMaintains appropriate, effective communication with residents, and with residents' family or other significant relationshipsProvides all care, treatment and services with appropriate dementia care protocolsParticipates in relevant educational and training activities as appropriateDocuments in Point Click Care accurately and timelyPerforms all other duties as assigned or directedCompetency Statement(s)Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.Communication, Written - Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.Customer Oriented - Ability to take care of the customers' needs while following company procedures.Honesty / Integrity - Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.Time Management - Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.Skills & AbilitiesEducation: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred; Must have completed Nurse Aide Training: RequiredExperience: No prior experience necessaryComputer Skills: Must be able to proficiently operate a computer, the Internet and basic office equipmentCertifications & Licenses: Active certificate conferred by the Ohio Department of Health's Nurse Aide Training Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP); Must participate in Continuing Education OR eligibility to enter such program, graduate and pass a State Approved Competency evaluation within 120 days from the date of employment; Must obtain and maintain mandatory, state, federal requirements and certifications for practice or occupationOther Requirements: Ability to communicate effectively with residents and nursing staff; Ability to read, write, understand and speak the English language; Special care/dementia care employees will have additional training in caring for and treating dementia residents; Must be able to work with elderly residents, families and other health care staff members; Must be able to adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the United Church Homes Employee HandbookWe're an equal opportunity employer.
