Location: Birmingham, Alabama (Onsite)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Structural Designer for a role that involves producing 3D models and design drawings for heavy industrial and power plant projects. The position requires a candidate who can prepare layouts, conceptual designs, and material takeoffs, while also coordinating with various teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce 3D models and design drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and ductwork.
• Prepare layouts and conceptual designs for structural projects.
• Review vendor shop fabrication drawings for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare material takeoffs and assist with cost estimates.
• Coordinate work with other disciplines, clients, and contractors.
• Perform site walk-downs for field verification and to assess constructability.
• Produce clear and concise drawing notes.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 10+ years of experience in a heavy industrial or power plant environment is required.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Candidates must be able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently and have the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with 3D modeling is strongly preferred.
• Experience in Microsoft/Bentley and/or Advanced Steel structural software is preferred.
• A background in steel/concrete detailing is a plus.
