Leasing Specialist (Affordable Housing)

Responsibilities The Affordable Leasing Specialist is responsible, under the direction of the Affordable Leasing Manager and the Director of Affordable Leasing, to provide key compliance related services for the Related Rentals portfolio, in accordance with regulatory program and agency requirements, all company policy and procedures, and all applicable Fair Housing Laws. Conducts eligibility appointments and processing applications for affordable or middle-income housing programs. Performs proper calculation of income and assets for all certifications. Follows up with applicants in obtaining required paperwork. Requests third party verifications, reviewing applicant provided information for accuracy and completeness. Runs credit and/or criminal background checks. Synthesizes and reviews information/documentation, determining applicant eligibility as per program guidelines and project criteria. Compiles documents for internal and external assessment. Assists in marketing/re-marketing activities and housing lotteries Aides in other leasing activities such as unit showing, lease signing, and subsidy processing. Perform additional duties as assigned. Have an accredited housing certification (Low Income Housing Tax Credit Specialist and/or Certified Occupancy Specialist) or the ability to obtain certification within 1 year of employment Experience working with New York City regulatory agencies (NYC HDC, NYC HPD, NYS HCR/HFA). Experience with Yardi. Experience with lease ups and/or mini-lotteries on NYC Housing Connect required. Knowledge of NYC rent stabilization. Detail oriented and organized. Strong communication and analytical skills. Initiative to work both independently as well as within a team while being able to perform in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Bi-lingual is a plus but not mandatory. Have NYS Notary License, or the ability to obtain license within 1 year of employment Travel required up to 10%.
