Teacher, 5th Grade Math (2026-2027 School Year) Bastrop Independent School District – Camino Real Elementary School, Dale, Texas. Starting Date: Aug 4, 2026 Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $57,750 to $72,424 Per Year Job Description BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and enable them to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned. ESL supplemental certification. Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) for assigned area. Knowledge of curriculum design, implementation, evaluation, and refinement. Knowledge of effective instruction and evaluation methodologies. Knowledge of continuous improvement process. Skill in using technology as a learning tool in all content areas. Skill in engaging others in collective inquiry and problem‑solving. Skill in collecting, analyzing, and using data to support student learning. Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional practices. Ability to organize and prioritize work responsibilities. Experience: Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience. Responsibilities Instructional Management: Work collaboratively with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to District requirements, including participation in Response to Intervention, Language Proficiency Assessment Committee, Section 504 Committee, Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee meetings. Develop and deliver lessons aligned with Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative guidelines, incorporating accommodations for diverse learning styles. Use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect student needs. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Integrate instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Support and participate in meeting campus and department improvement plan objectives. Provide instruction in accordance with Bastrop ISD approved curriculum and required resources. Student Management: Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development. Implement multi‑tiered systems of support, including Positive Behavioral Intervention Systems, Restorative Practices, Trauma‑Informed Practices, and Social‑Emotional Learning. Monitor and report student progress according to campus and District guidelines in a timely manner. Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Resolve parent/student issues and concerns promptly. Serve as a positive role model for students. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and handbook. Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student progress and performance using district‑approved protocols. Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions: Develop and submit lesson plans, including substitute plans, using District templates. Submit grades in accordance with district grading policies. Collaborate with District staff to meet student group needs per policy guidelines. Assist in monitoring students and creating a safe campus environment as directed by the principal. Attend campus events and extracurricular activities, as assigned. Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Compile, maintain, and submit reports, records, and documents as required. Plan and supervise volunteer assignments in the classroom when applicable. Follow District and department policies and procedures. Other Responsibilities: Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education and local Board policies. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Mental, Physical, and Environmental Demands: Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED). Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Motion: Frequent walking. Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move up to 50 pounds. Environment: Work inside; may work outside; regular exposure to noise.
