Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Multiple positions are available for experienced Special Education Teachers in self-contained and resource classroom settings for the full 2026-2027 school year. Your experience and background should include:

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate, preferably with Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), Learning Disabilities (LD), or Early Childhood (ZA) endorsements. Other relevant special education endorsements considered.
• Experience with students in K-12th grades. Positions are available in both cognitive and emotional impairment classrooms, as well as for resource roles.
• Understanding of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA federal regulations.
• Comfort and commitment to working onsite in an urban district setting.
• Ability to adapt instruction based on diverse needs and provide resources for students and families facing urban-specific challenges.
• Copy of official university transcripts required prior to placement.

What you’ll be doing:

• Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students, adjusting goals as needed.
• Providing differentiated instruction in a self-contained or resource classroom environment for a caseload of up to 22 students.
• Collaborating regularly with a robust support team: paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and special education colleagues.
• Participating in professional development and receiving mentorship throughout your assignment.
• Engaging with families and caregivers to foster student success.
